One of the most common conditions that we treat in our clinic are migraines and headaches, and its no surprise that we so many of these cases when this condition affects nearly 20% of our population. Most commonly women between the ages of 22 and 35 are most at risk of suffering from migraines.

 

Migraines can be quite debilitating for the sufferer, it can cause nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, affect their vision and casue numbness. Any one or combination of the above can really shut down the person for the period of the attack.

Whilst researches arent able to pinpoint exactly what causes these migraine attacks, it suggested that one or more of the following can trigger a migraine or severe headache.

  • Diet related
  • Stress
  • Menstrual cycle
  • Disrupted sleeping patterns
  • Emotional – stress, excitement ect.
  • Physiochemical – heat, light, noise ect.

At Trademark Therapy we provide both Sports Therapy and Myotherapy treatments that can help alleviate your symptoms of pain during a migraine episode. Our treatment use a variety of techniques that aim to reduce muscular tension that is commonly associated with migraines, ease external stresses, and provide you with an exercise program that is aimed at strengthening your neck and shoulder muscles. These techniques have been proven to reduce tension related headaches.

 

Whilst everyone’s results differ, at Trademark Therapy we have found that using both Myotherapy and Sports Therapy techniques that we are able to reduce the symptoms of a current migraine as well as reduce the amount of episodes one might have. All of appointments will assess you personal history, possible aggravating factors, postural limitations and history of previous treatments in order to provide with an appropriate treatment plan. Techniques that may be used but not limited to include, massage, dry needling, cupping, TENS machine in conjunction with a specific exercise program.
